Life happens. If you are in need of a warm bed and some warm personalities, we are here for you. The Dorothy Day Hospitality House is a temporary homeless shelter conveniently located in downtown Rochester, Minnesota within walking distance to Mayo Clinic, buses, and community resources.
The House is open to guests from 4 p.m. - 9 a.m. daily, and dinner is served at 6 p.m. each evening. We also offer laundry facilities, coffee, snacks, and the trademark hospitality that has long been foundational to the Dorothy Day House experience.
The Dorothy Day Hospitality House will update COVID-19 related policies as needed, and in collaboration with public health professionals.

- Beds are available to guests on a first come, first served basis
- We require identification, sobriety, and a willingness to abide by the House Rules
- Guests can stay up to 21 consecutive days and nights
- There is no limit to the number of stays, however, the waiting time between stays is 2 months
- We are open for visitors from 7-9 a.m. and p.m. daily
- The house is open from 4 p.m. to 9 a.m. daily
- Guest check-in is from 4-10 p.m. each evening
- We serve adults ages 18 and over
- We have toiletries and some gently used coats and accessories available, if needed
- Goods and services are provided to guests free of charge by our generous donors and volunteers
